Henry Cavill is reportedly returning to the role of Superman for Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming DC movie Black Adam.
DC fans have been wondering about the cinematic future of Superman for a while. Following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, the company was said to be looking to “revitalize” the character, but is yet to announce any new upcoming live-action Superman projects.
Fans were also anticipating an appearance from Henry Cavill to announce the character’s return at San Diego Comic-Con, but such an appearance never materialized. However, Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson made a few comments on crossing paths with the Man of Steel.
Now it looks like, rather than just speculating, Johnson may have been teasing something that was in the works for Black Adam. A new report suggests Henry Cavill will return as Superman in the movie.
Superman Returns In Black Adam
According to a new report from Geekosity, Henry Cavill recently filmed a new scene as Superman for Black Adam.
The report claims that Superman appears in Black Adam‘s post-credits scene, so fans shouldn’t expect Cavill’s Man of Steel to have a significant role in the film. However, this would seem to definitively confirm Cavill is hanging around as the DCEU’s Superman.
Plans to include Superman in Black Adam‘s post-credits scene apparently came from Dwayne Johnson himself. The actor’s Comic-Con coments about a showdown between Black Adam and Superman, along with Black Adam’s animated appearance in the League of Super-Pets post-credits scene, certainly seem to indicate Johnson is keen to face the Man of Steel.
Henry Cavill reportedly shot the new Superman scene in the UK in early August, suggesting it has been a last-minute addition to Black Adam. The report also claims he wears his Man of Steel costume in the scene, rather than the black suit introduced in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Should the report prove true, DC fans don’t have long to wait until they get to see Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel once more.
