Justice League star Henry Cavill gets a comic-accurate redesign that gives Superman his classic red trunks for the DC Extended Universe.
When Warner Bros. and DC introduced Henry Cavill’s Superman back in 2013, his costume got a significant redesign to match the new mythos director Zack Snyder was creating for the DCEU. One notable element of the costume missing from the new design was the iconic red trunks that Superman’s worn for decades in the comics. Now, new fan art pictures Cavill’s Man of Steel with a comic-accurate look.
The new design comes from digital artist ‘jscomicart’ on Instagram, showing the Justice League star strolling along wearing the trunks and gold belt combination over his metallic blue suit. It’s an impressively heroic picture, especially with the Kryptonian’s cape blowing in the wind alongside him. The artist explained he wasn’t trying to make the star look like Christopher Reeve, but was simply trying to aim closer to the comics. Take a look below.

Was having some fun in photoshop and decided to put Cavill in a more comic book looking costume! No this has nothing to do with reeve. Simply making him look more like the comics! I think Henry rocks the trunks amazingly well! . . What do you think? Henry Cavill was last seen as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, the film stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
