Henry Cavill has confirmed his return to the role of Superman following his appearance in the Black Adam movie.

It’s official: Henry Cavill is back at Superman, and he’s here to stay. The British actor took to his Instagram page this morning to confirm his commitment to the role for years to come, something that was first teased with the post-credits scene of the Black Adam movie.

Henry Cavill finally made his long-awaited return as Superman in Black Adam thanks to Dwayne Johnson and his producing partners Dany and Hiram Garcia. His brief scene teased a showdown between Black Adam and Superman, but Johnson recently said that there’s still “a lot more long-term storytelling” to come before we get to that point.

Black Adam opened in theaters this past weekend, earning $140 million at the worldwide box office. The film is expected to continue dominating the box office until the opening weekend of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in November.

Warner Bros. is already working on Superman’s return

A new Superman movie is in the early stages of development at Warner Bros, with Chuck Roven attached as a producer. Roven has been working on live-action DC Comics movies since 2005’s Batman Begins. The yet-to-be titled Superman project does not yet have a director or a writer.

Henry Cavill’s Superman was last seen in 2017’s Justice League and Zack Snyder Cut of the movie on the WarnerMedia streaming service HBO Max. However, Cavill didn’t shoot any material for the Snyder Cut, which included fresh scenes with stars like Ben Affleck and Joe Manganiello.
