Henry Cavill recently praised Zack Snyder’s Justice League and discussed his hopeful return as Superman.
After years of patiently waiting and tons of campaigning, fans finally got their chance to see Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of Justice League this year. The four-hour-long film considerably expanded upon the original and featured tons of new footage that expanded the so-called “Snyderverse”. The film is also expected to be Henry Cavill’s final portrayal as Superman, a character he first started playing in 2013’s Man of Steel.
It’s unclear at this junction if Henry Cavill will ever be called back by DC to wear the Superman suit again, though the star has responded enthusiastically to a potential return. During a chat with reporter Kevin McCarthy for the upcoming season of The Witcher, Cavill touched upon how fantastic Zack Snyder’s Justice League was and how it expanded upon Superman’s representation.
“Justice League. Snyder Cut. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a wonderful way of Zack getting his version of the story out and important to do too. And I thought there was a wonderful tenderness to the movie which existed and that I think was essential to the representation of Superman.”
Henry Cavill then continued by discussing the logistics of returning as Superman, though he didn’t offer any concrete details.
“I would love to play Superman again. It all depends. There’s so many moving parts to that, that’s it’s not just down to my desire, it’s down to a lot of things.”
Warner Bros. and DC are currently moving ahead with multiple Superman projects that don’t involve Henry Cavill. Fans have patiently waited to see Cavill grace the screen again, and the star has mentioned numerous times how he’s ready to return as the Man of Steel, but it’s up to the brass at DC to give the star a call.
Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
