DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures’ upcoming sequel, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World will be soaring into theaters a week earlier than announced. The highly-anticipated third chapter in the popular animated film series will now open February 22, 2019.
This isn’t the first time that the release date for How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World was changed. Originally, the film was set to hit theaters on June 18, 2016. It was then delayed to June 9, 2017, June 29, 2018 and even May 18, 2018 before being postponed to March 1, 2019.
It’s been a long journey for Hiccup and Toothless returning to the big screen. They first debuted in the original film in 2010, which became a surprise critical and commercial success that spawned the sequel, released in 2014. It’ll be nearly five years since the previous film soared into theaters.
