The Peacemaker finale did have a major cameo after all! Eagle eyed fans have discovered that one of the most vital figures in the DC Universe became canon in season 2.
To say that the finale for Peacemaker season 2 was divisive would be an understatement. Some fans absolutely adored the subversive nature of the show’s internal-focused climax. However, a much larger segment of the audience was simply left confused at how many threads James Gunn left dangling open, especially given there were plenty of teases about one final major cameo.
As for who Peacemaker‘s big cameo would be, a lot of characters were floated as potentially making their return to the DC Universe in season 2. Perhaps the biggest contingent of fans thought that Blue Beetle, be it Jaime Reyes or Ted Kord, would appear somewhere in the finale. However, other popular choices included Superman, Booster Gold, and even Huntress.
Peacemaker Season 2’s Hidden Cameo
Yet it seems the cameo may have been hidden right under fans’ noses. Upon combing through every shot of the finale, fans have noticed that one familiar face is hiding in the background of the Foxy Shazam concert attended by Peacemaker and Harcourt. That’s right, James Gunn has been officially made canon to the DC Universe through a small cameo in the background of the season 2 finale!

Of course, this cameo likely doesn’t mean much for the broader DC Universe, and was likely just James Gunn enjoying one of his favorite bands while enjoying the season 2 finale. Though, given Gunn has played himself in other DC projects, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him appear in whatever project follows up Peacemaker.
Peacemaker season 2 is now streaming on HBO Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
