Is Hugh Jackman officially making his return as Wolverine? The actor teases that he may reprise his beloved role in yet another MCU project.
When Deadpool and Wolverine was first announced, it seemed like a true victory lap for Hugh Jackman to celebrate his time as the Best There Is At What He Does. However, as more details come out about the end of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, all signs point to Wolverine making a return at least twice more as a representative of Fox’s X-Men saga.
The odd thing is, despite Hugh Jackman being one of the most marketable people currently in the MCU, the actor hasn’t been announced to return in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. This is especially odd as most of his X-Men co-stars, such as James Marsden and Alan Cumnming, are confirmed to play major roles in the project. This has left some to question whether or not Wolverine truly will return.
Will Hugh Jackman Return As Wolverine?
The actor recently touched on his future in the MCU during a recent appearance on The View. When reflecting on two decades of playing Wolverine in the X-Men franchise, Hugh Jackman admits that his gut is telling him that he isn’t done. This is almost certainly a tease for his return in either Avengers: Doomsday, the X-Men reboot, or both.
“My gut says [I’m] not done,” Jackman explained during the interview. “But that’s just me. Marvel might have different ideas.”
With the Super Bowl coming up, it’s all-but-guaranteed that Avengers: Doomsday will have a major presence at the event. Given Hugh Jackman’s original return in the MCU was announced at the big game, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Wolverine as one of the big surprises waiting in the trailer.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
