Is Hugh Jackman finally making his return as Wolverine…again? The actor speaks on reprising his role for a final (final) time after Deadpool and Wolverine.
When Deadpool and Wolverine was first announced, fans were ecstatic to have Hugh Jackman back in the saddle as the Canadian Claw-Man. His return truly felt like a victory lap in a similar way to Tobey Maguire’s in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, as the film came out and the rumor mill around his character spun up, it seemed apparent than the end wasn’t truly the end.
All signs point to Hugh Jackman making a return as Wolverine at the end of the Multiverse Saga, be it in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. Yet the rumor mill is also suggesting that Kevin Feige wants to keep Jackman around for even longer, with the near-60-year-old playing the main version of Wolverine in the MCU going forward.
Will Hugh Jackman Return As Wolverine?
Yet despite how circulated these reports have been, there’s been no official word about Hugh Jackman making his return as Wolverine in any capacity. This has been pretty shocking, especially given how successful Deadpool and Wolverine was. However, when speaking on The Graham Norton show, it seems the actor is keeping when foot in the door when it comes to the MCU.
“Maybe. I’m never saying ‘never’ ever again! I have done ten films now, so I think they have enough for an AI version of me.”
Of course, if Hugh Jackman is set to make his return as Wolverine, it’s likely that fans will know sooner than later. Avengers: Doomsday comes out in just over a year, and it’s likely that Marvel Studios would want to use the star to promote the movie. And with the MCU’s X-Men reboot likely filming not long after, an official announcement of his involvement would need to follow suit.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
