Hulu has decided not to move forward with Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider series.
Earlier this year, Marvel Television announced it was developing a new live-action Ghost Rider series with Hulu. The show would have starred Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider, who debuted in the role during the fourth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Now, Deadline reports Hulu has decided to not move forward with plans for Ghost Rider after reaching a creative impasse with the creative team on the Gabriel Luna series. The outlet reports that is currently unclear if Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider series will be shopped at other networks now that Hulu has opted to pass on the project.
As previously mentioned, Gabriel Luna starred as Ghost Rider in the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for multiple episodes. This version of Robbie Reyes was granted the Spirit of Vengeance’s powers after sustaining fatal injuries in a gang shootout that also left his younger brother paralyzed. With his newfound powers, Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider exacts revenge on the gang members who wounded his brother and other people he believes deserves his wrath. Eventually, Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider crosses paths with a self-exiled Daisy Johnson and later assists the S.H.I.E.l.D team in defeating a supernatural threat.
Hulu is still on track to deliver a Helstrom series along with the third season of Marvel’s Runaways. In addition to these live-action shows, Hulu is set to release four animated shows, Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K, Marvel’s Hit-Monkey, Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show and Marvel’s Howard The Duck, which will culminate in a crossover special titled Marvel’s The Offenders.
