New Huntress Concept Art Reveals Different Look For ‘Birds of Prey’

A newly released piece of concept art has revealed an alternative look for Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress in Birds of Prey.

Earlier this year, Birds of Prey was released to critical praise, continuing DC’s streak of well-received superhero films. While it didn’t bring in the numbers some were expecting, it none the less managed to earn well over $200M on an $84M budget. One criticism that frequently came up, however, was the fact that several of its characters did not appear to be comic accurate which included Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress. However, one bit of unused concept art reveals an alternative look for the character.

Earlier today, Birds of Prey concept artist Greg Hopwood revealed a set of Birds of Prey images that included a pair for Harley Quinn. However, the artist also included what he described as an early, unused, and unfinished version of Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress that saw the character take on a more comic accurate look. What do you all make of this concept art? Would you like to have seen Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress take on a more classical look? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for Birds of Prey:

“You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.”

Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Birds of Prey is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s future as Huntress and Birds of Prey and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more great video content.
