‘Infinity War’ Concept Art Depicts Thanos Battling Doctor Strange

So let’s be honest. Among Earth’s Μightiest Ηeroes, who has the real chance of posing a threat against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War? The kid who climbs up the walls? The guy in an iron suit or the god with the magic hammer? How about the Sorcerer Supreme? Well, yes, of the heroes and Avengers, Doctor Strange would probably have better odds than most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s heroes against Thanos, even though Doctor Strange ended up as one of Thanos’ victims by the end of Infinity War.

With that said, let’s get into some concept art since one of the more interesting things about films, especially these comic adaptations, is seeing how things looked at the conceptual stage. Today’s piece comes from Anthony Francisco, a senior visual design artist at Marvel Studios who also worked on Black Panther as well. Yesterday, Francisco took to his Instagram page to share some concept art of Thanos in intense combat with Stephen Strange in Infinity War.

The idea was that, at this point, Thanos would have obtained or acquired four or five of the Infinity Stones, so you have to make a battle against Doctor Strange of all people look incredible. Among the abilities in Thanos’ arsenal at this point in Infinity War, he would have been able to manipulate gas from a nearby star or pull lava from the center of a planet, as is the case in the concept art. But have a look for yourself at the art below at what Francisco had in mind for the Mad Titan taking on the Sorcerer Supreme.

Indeed it does look impressive, but again, this is all merely concept art, though we did still see Doctor Strange hold his own against Thanos in the finished product. At least, again, until he was snapped out of existence. But what do you think of the concept art shown? Would you have wanted to see something similar showcased in Infinity War itself or are you satisfied with how Doctor Strange took on Thanos? And more than that, given the ending of the film, how do you hope to see Strange utilized in Avengers: Untitled? Let us know in the comments below.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently available on Digital HD, 4K, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
