Fans of the Inhumans were shocked when Anson Mount reprised his role as Black Bolt in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It seems as though that may not be the last fans see of him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the actor has revealed he’s had some talks about returning to the role.
ABC’s Inhumans show will go down as one of the biggest failures in MCU history, with the project being so bad that it literally killed off all the Inhumans in the comics. That’s why it was such a shock when Anson Mount returned as the King of the Inhumans, Black Bolt, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. When asked if that would be the last fans would see of him in the role, the actor admitted he’s had some informal talks about returning:
“If the answer was yes, I wouldn’t be able to tell you – but the answer is no, so I can. I’ve had some informal conversations with the powers [at] Marvel and it’s a conversation, but they’ve got their current phase that they need to do,” Mount told Radio Times. “I don’t know, we’ll see. I would love to jump back into the cowl and do it again. I love Black Bolt as a character.”
Anson Mount saying he loves Black Bolt despite the failure of Inhumans should light a warm fire in the hearts of fans of the Royal Family. It’s unlikely Mount would return for anything beyond a cameo in Secret Wars given the reputation of his show, but at this point, Inhumans fans would take anything to be seen in the MCU!
The Tragedy Of The Inhumans
Marvel’s Inhumans was a short-lived ABC series based on the Royal Family of the same name in Marvel comics. The show only lasted one season, earning a dismal 11% on Rotten Tomatoes.
