Finn Jones Will Reprise ‘Iron Fist’ Role In Other Marvel Netflix Shows

Finn Jones Iron Fist Danny Rand Marvel NetflixAll good things must come to an end. Well, when we’re talking about the Marvel/Netflix Iron Fist series, as is the case with any series, taste is subjective. And while the second season may have been a notch above the rather lackluster outing of the first season, there was still optimism that Danny Rand could be redeemed. After all, between The Defenders and his appearance on the tenth episode of the second season of Luke Cage, actor Finn Jones can indeed play the part.

But as you know by now, that wasn’t going to change the minds of the higher-ups at Netflix and Marvel Television, given the decision to axe the Iron Fist series yesterday after two seasons. Now where does Danny Rand go from here? Even when the first seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist hit the scene prior to The Defenders, some did and still do believe the solution would be to pair the two up in a Heroes for Hire program. Or, better yet, continue to utilize Danny- and Colleen- on Luke Cage in an occasional guest role.

How Finn Jones will be utilized remains to be seen, but based on a report from Entertainment Weekly following the cancellation of Iron Fist, it is confirmed that Finn Jones will reprise his role of Danny Rand in the other series’ of this universe. Ideally, the natural place to send Danny would be Luke Cage. Given how that season ended, Danny could serve as the voice of reason to Luke, now the proprietor of Harlem’s Paradise, and keep him from becoming the villain.

Or what about Jessica Jones? Given how Jessica and Trish’s relationship ended on a rocky note, Danny could be the occasional thorn in her side needed to motivate her. And then there’s Daredevil. After all, Danny did promise to protect Hell’s Kitchen in light of Matt’s “death” in The Defenders, and given that Matt isn’t dead, the two having actual fighting prowess and abilities could make them a formidable duo in Hell’s Kitchen.

If The Defenders and Luke Cage were any indication, it’s that Finn Jones can be given some great material that allows him to shine more as Danny Rand outside of his own show. So the fun-loving Danny we saw in Luke Cage could come to life again in the hands of different writers and directors. Or why just Netflix? Maybe Danny goes on a long road trip and ends up in Runaways or Cloak and Dagger territory. Who knows?

Well that seems rather pandering, doesn’t it? You’re not good enough to carry your own show but hey, we’ll throw you a bone now and then and you can “guest-star” for an episode or two. If I were Finn Jones I would tell Netflix to go screw themselves. That is like a slap in the face to an actor. And of course they would cancel it just when it was getting good too. Executives are idiots.
