The MCU may have more than one Iron Fist! A recent rumor suggests that Finn Jones may return in order to bring Lin Lei into the franchise.
It’s inevitable that Iron Fist will appear in the MCU in the next few years. However, the question is WHO will actually be the Iron Fist. The return of Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal, and Krysten Ritter suggest that Finn Jones would reprise his controversial role. However, Lin Lei’s recent push in the comics and popularity in Marvel Rivals could mean that he takes the spot.
If you ask the rumor mill, the answer seems to be both! A report from Alex Perez at the Cosmic Circus teases that Finn Jones is set to make his return in the MCU as Iron Fist. However, it seems as though he’ll be on the hunt for someone to take up the mantle. And while he has had a few proteges over the years, it’s all but certain to be Lin Lei that takes up the mantle.
“I’ve heard that Finn Jones’ return would be as both hero and mentor. He’ll still be Iron Fist, but he’ll be looking for someone to replace him. The last time I heard, they wanted Lin Lie.”
The MCU’s Iron Fist Conundrum
The biggest issue that the MCU faces when it comes to Iron Fist is how to reintroduce him. Given Finn Jones started his run on Netflix, it’s likely that the character will only return in a Disney Plus series. However, the character is big enough to appear in films, or even carry his own, so it’s likely that Marvel would want to push Lin Lei beyond those confines.
The most likely answer to this issue is that Lin Lei will make his debut alongside Finn Jones in a Disney Plus project. However, either through the rumor of a Street Level crossover film or an appearance in a future Shang-Chi project, Lin Lei will be introduced to audiences on the silver screen as the one and only Iron Fist.
