Iron Man Almost Had A Very Different Armor In ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Robert Downey Jr. nearly fought Thanos wearing a completely different Iron Man armor in Avengers: Endgame.

While Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man went out fighting in his classic red and gold look, concept art from D23 has surfaced, showing the hero fighting in a brand new set of armor. Even though Tony vowed to stop making his suits back in Iron Man 3, he was never really going to stop being Iron Man was he? Especially considering the events prior to Avengers: Endgame. So it isn’t surprising that Marvel debated letting Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man bring out one of his other armors to take down Thanos and save the universe.

There was also some other Avengers: Endgame concept art the studio revealed, including Black Widow, Hulk and Giant-Man. But the Iron Man armor we nearly saw Robert Downey Jr. fight in was the Silver Centurion suit. The concept art they showed was from the suit’s appearance in Iron Man 3, but since they included it with the rest of the Avengers: Endgame and Phase Four concept art, it seems like the Silver Centurion nearly had its time to shine. The suit first appeared in Iron Man #200, but it would have been incredible to see Robert Downey Jr. fighting with the rest of the Avengers in the armor on the big screen. Take a look at the concept art below.

Do you wish Robert Downey Jr. got to wear more Iron Man armors in Avengers: Endgame? Let us know in the comments.
