‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Star J. August Richards Would Bring Deathlok Back To The MCU

Should Deathlok return to the MCU?

J August Richards Deathlok Marvel Agents of SHIELD MCU

J. August Richards, who previously appeared in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD as Mike Peterson/Deathlok, has suggested he would be open to bringing the character back to the MCU.

Richards’ Mike Peterson first appeared in the very first episode of Agents of SHIELD, before later being transformed into the cybernetic Deathlok. He would go on to appear several times throughout the series, serving as both enemy and ally to Phil Coulson and his SHIELD agents.

With several characters from various Marvel television properties now making their way into the main MCU, J. August Richards has addressed the possibility of reprising the role of Deathlok.

Is Deathlok Due A Comeback?

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, J. August Richards addressed the possibility of a return to the MCU and offered some hope for a Deathlok comeback.

When asked whether he would consider reprising his Marvel role, Richards confirmed he would be open to the possibility, saying he would never consider himself “officially done with” any character he has ever played. It sounds like if Marvel calls, he would be up for bringing Deathlok back.

J. August Richards said of a potential Deathlok return:

“I get so connected to the characters that I play. Without sounding cliche or anything, I never really let go of any character that I play because I put so much time, effort, and energy into it like I have with Victor [Dashkov, in Peacock’s Vampire Academy]. No character that I’ve ever played is ever… am I ever officially done with.”

Recently, Anson Mount has entered the mainstream MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where he reprised the role of Black Bolt from the short-lived TV series Inhumans. Meanwhile, Charlie Cox has reprised the role of Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home and is set to play the character again in several upcoming MCU projects.
