Does Jack Kesy actually look good as Hellboy? A fresh photoshoot gives fans new images of the star in full makeup for Hellboy: The Crooked Man.

When the first trailer for Hellboy: The Crooked Man hit the net, fans were quick to mock the film in almost every aspect. Perhaps none got more mockery than Jack Kesy himself, who was derided as being inferior to prior actors of the paranormal detective such as David Harbour and Ron Perlman. Some even compared his look to cosplay!

However, recent weeks have turned the internet slightly more in favor of Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Fans are more open to Jack Kesy playing the beloved cambion. This was cemented with a new set of images released by TotalFilm to help promote the film, giving fans their best look yet at his costume and makeup in the upcoming film.

Jack Kesy Speaks On The Pressure Of Playing Hellboy

Despite being a relatively small indie comic, Hellboy as a character holds a special place in the cultural zeitgeist due to the original duology starring Ron Perlman. One could imagine Jack Kesy would be feeling the heat, especially after the last failed reboot. However, Kesy admits that he isn’t worried at all about how people view him ahead of Hellboy: The Crooked Man.

“You know what, I love a good challenge, I’ve always been like that so I was excited to take it on,” Kesy explained to GamesRadar. “Everyone, the supporters, the haters, whoever, bring them on. You know it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You always get an opportunity to play people similar to yourself but when do you get a chance to be in full prosthetic, playing iconic characters? The excitement topped everything.”

“Just excitement and a little bit of creative pressure, like, ‘How am I going to do this?’ I’ve never worked in prosthetics. But we collaborated with the director [Brian Taylor] and it was one day at a time, one scene at a time.”

So many times unknown actors are bullied out of fandom spaces before they even get a chance to be accepted. It’s good to hear that Jack Kesy isn’t letting the hate get to him before Hellboy: The Crooked Man even debuts. The film is set to be a different, more comic-accurate take on the character. But whether the shoestring budget works out well is yet to be seen.
