Earlier today, a rumor emerged suggesting that Warner Bros. is interested in Unbroken actor Jack O’Connell to potentially replace Ben Affleck, or join the cast as a member of the Bat-family in DC’s upcoming standalone film The Batman which is being directed by Matt Reeves.

That Hashtag Show reported that not only was Warner Bros. interested in O’Connell for the project, but that he had already met with the studio recently, and possibly even Affleck when the actor was seen at Warner’s offices last month. Heroic Hollywood editor-in-chief Umberto Gonzalez has now confirmed this is indeed not the case, as the studio’s efforts are currently concentrating on locking down the script, which Reeves himself turned in the first draft of last month.

While this isn’t the first time O’Connell’s name has surfaced near the project, as the actor was previously rumored, details on the story for The Batman are still under wraps, though the project is rumored to be centered on a younger Caped Crusader. Reeves himself has also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.

The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films, including The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New Gods, Nightwing, and a Joker origin movie set outside of the DCEU.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the DC Films franchise as we learn it.
