Jai Courtney Was High On Shrooms Discussing Boomerang’s Look In ‘Suicide Squad’

It’s officially seven days until Suicide Squad hits theaters and like most DC Fans, this fanboy is extremely excited . After the lukewarm response to Batman v Superman*, WB and DC Films could use a fun critical success and the good folks over at Warner Bros seem to have gotten a handle of things going forward. The footage previewed at SDCC ’16 of Justice League, Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad looks really fun and it seems likely that WB will please fans that like grit and fans who like fun.

If you’ve seen all of the Suicide Squad trailers, you can tell that Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang will be a doozy of a character. In one of the trailers Boomerang stops in the middle of battle to drink a beer and it is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen in a comic book film. It seems that Courtney sees a lot of himself in the character, which is always such a good sign. While speaking with Empire Magazine (Via Batman News), Courtney describes the night he ate shrooms while going on the set of Suicide Squad:

“That night I happened to eat some mushrooms, and I did self-inflict some burns, I turned up to discuss my look, expecting we’d have a long discussion and slowly he refine it. David [Ayer] just walked right in, picked up some clippers and started shearing chunks of hair off my head, Eventually he said, ‘You look like bad news.’ Then he left.”

There you have it folks, Courtney is just as bonkers as Boomerang. I can see how he sees a bit of himself in the character. Do you guys think Jai Courtney is gonna kill it as Captain Boomerang? Sound off in the comments section.

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Suicide Squad hits theater next week, August 5th, 2016!
