Jake Johnson Comments On Playing A Live-Action Spider-Man After His ‘Spider-Verse’ Role

Will he return?

Jake Johnson Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse Sequel

Jake Johnson made a splash with his role as Peter B. Parker in the Spider-Verse movies. Now, Johnson has revealed his conditions for reprising his iconic Spider-Man role in live-action.

It seems every popular Spider-Man character is getting their own spin-off at Sony Pictures, from Spider-Man Noir to Silk. However, is it possible fans will be seeing Jake Johnson play a live-action Peter B. Parker? When asked about the prospect, Johnson admitted he’d only do it if Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller had a great idea.

“I really love how it is. I think the animation is great,” Jake Johnson explained in a recent interview with Comicbook.com. “I think for me, truthfully, it’s all about Phil Lord and Chris Miller. If Phil Lord or Chris texted and said, ‘We think this is really cool and we would like you to be part of it,’ then I’m in.”

“If it’s Sony that says they have got a really fun idea and it’s a new director who’s at a great studio rate, I feel less excited about that. I think that a lot of this stuff is … There’s an element that’s just money to make money, and projects just to make money. And then there’s a few people who really care, and those people who really care, if it’s them, I’m on board for anything.”

Given Phil Lord and Chris Miller are helming Sony Pictures’ live-action Spider-Verse projects, it certainly wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility that they call up Jake Johnson to return as Peter B. Parker. However, it’s a relief Johnson will only reprise the role if he’s passionate about the story. It’s doubtful anyone wanted to see him return in a project like El Muerto!

The team behind Across The Spider-Verse
