Director James Cameron released his response to Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame dethroning Avatar at the worldwide box office.

Twelve years after James Cameron’s Titanic claimed the title of the highest-grossing film of all time, the Academy award-winning epic was dethroned by the filmmaker’s own Avatar. Both James Cameron films would retain the top two spots on the list of highest-grossing movies for nearly a decade before Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame surpassed Titanic in early May 2019, with Avatar‘s first-place seat in its sights.

Over the past weekend, Avengers: Endgame officially passed Avatar at the worldwide box office to become the new highest-grossing film of all-time, prompting James Cameron to continue the tradition of releasing a statement each time a new movie earns the honor. In his official response, James Cameron congratulated Avengers: Endgame on becoming the “new box office king” with an image of Iron Man being surrounded by woodsprites.

James Cameron is set to release four Avatar sequels every other year on the pre-Christmas weekend starting in 2021. Avatar sequels star Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, CCH Pounder, Cliff Curtis, Kate Winslet, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, and David Thewlis. In the meantime, Avengers: Endgame will soon be available on all home media formats.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers:Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo,  Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame will be available on Digital HD starting July 30 followed by a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on August 13.
