James Gunn has shared a behind-the-scenes video of his brother, Sean, portraying Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame.
As the sole surviving Guardians of the Galaxy team members, Rocket Racoon and Nebula found themselves joining forces with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes after learning of a way to potentially undo Thanos’ decimation. To help bring Rocket Raccoon to life, James Gunn’s brother Sean returned to provide motion reference for the cantankerous hero, as he has done for the character’s previous MCU appearances.
Now, James Gunn has shared a behind-the-scenes clip featuring Sean Gunn on the set of Avengers: Endgame to explain just how much his brother contributes to the character. The clip features Sean Gunn filming the scene in which the Avengers prepare to embark on a time travel heist to retrieve the Infinity Stones and James Gunn notes that his brother is not merely a stand-in for Rocket, but that Sean’s performance and facial expressions are also used to bring the character to life.

This is @seangunn doing motion reference for Rocket on set in #Endgame. Contrary to popular opinion, he’s not a stand-in as much of Rocket’s acting and facial expressions are Sean’s. And yes it’s hilarious every time. https://t.co/GTRa5RQq9Z
