Did James Gunn film the cameo of the century for Peacemaker? A new BTS photo has been released of Lex Luthor’s appearance in season 2.
Peacemaker season 2 has been absolutely chocked full of surprises, and it’s clear that James Gunn has even more coming down the pipeline. However, in the incredible hype for the season finale, it’s easy for fans to forget that they already got one of the biggest twists the DC Universe has seen so far: a cameo from Lex Luthor.
While the cameo hasn’t amounted to much (yet), it’s clear the appearance of Lex Luthor in Peacemaker is setting up for some major changes in the status quo of the DC Universe. This is actually teased in a social media post from James Gunn with a BTS photo of the cameo, suggesting that Rick Flag Sr. and Lex Luthor are like a “scorpion and a frog” in season 2.
Lex Luthor’s Turn In Peacemaker Season 2
For those unaware, the proverb James Gunn is referring to follows a frog taking a scorpion across a pond as long as he promises not to sting him. However, halfway through the ride, the scorpion stings the frog anyways, claiming it’s within their nature and ultimately killing them both. It’s an interesting parallel to draw when considering Lex Luthor’s cameo in Peacemaker season 2.
While many assume, due to the nature of the cameo, Lex Luthor would be the scorpion James Gunn is referring to- one can’t be too sure. It’s possible that Rick Flag’s deal in Peacemaker season 2 includes an unwritten promise not to abuse the tech Luthor is helping him access. Perhaps it is that abuse of the quantum unfolding chamber that James Gunn is implying will have dire consequences for the broader DC Universe.
