Without giving too much away for those who haven’t read the comics, Simon Stagg is the father of Metamorpho’s girlfriend, Sapphire Stagg. He also had a hand in the hero’s origin, resulting in his now-monstrous appearance. While this Easter egg doesn’t confirm anything about Simon Stagg’s past, it’s likely James Gunn is at least hinting that these events are canon to the DC Universe.
