James Gunn confirmed the next DC project he’s working on will be another television series.
James Gunn is a busy guy, currently in production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for Marvel and promoting the Peacemaker series that will hit HBO Max later this week. Gunn previously teased he was working on another DC project after Peacemaker, and Walter Hamada also revealed that Gunn would return to DC for an untitled project.
In an interview with Collider, James Gunn remained tight-lipped on what he’s working on for DC next. However, Gunn was willing to share what medium the project will be in:
“You know, we’re stepping forward. It keeps happening. We’ll see what’s happening, and I’ll know what’s happening very shortly. I dealt with it last night and this morning. It’s TV. There you go.”
With James Gunn working with the villains of the DC Universe, it’s not a stretch that his next project will involve characters from The Suicide Squad. There were rumors that Gunn was developing a Krypto project for DC, but the director eventually debunked them.
Here’s a synopsis for DC’s Peacemaker:
PEACEMAKER explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it!
Peacemaker was created by James Gunn, who wrote all the episodes and directed five of them. The first season of the DC series will consist of eight episodes, with Brad Anderson, Jody Hill, and Rosemary Rodriguez also directing episodes. Clint Mansell and Kevin Kiner will compose the score.
Peacemaker premieres on HBO Max on January 13, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming DC projects on the way, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
