A new clip from James Gunn’s Peacemaker series introduces us to the new team and Project Butterfly.

We are now only weeks away from the return of John Cena’s Peacemaker in his own HBO Max solo series. The last we saw of Cena’s Peacemaker, we learned he survived the battle with Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad. According to creator James Gunn, The HBO Max series will be a sequel to the latest DC film.

In a new Peacemaker clip, we are introduced to the team the former Suicide Squad member will be working with. It’s also revealed that Peacemaker will be working on Project Butterfly this time around after dealing with Project Starfish. Project Butterfly doesn’t appear to be hinting towards another iconic DC villain this time around and is instead referring to Peacemaker being contracted to kill other bad guys for ARGUS. You can watch the Peacemaker clip below.

Here is the synopsis for The Suicide Squad:

Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Tinashe Kajese, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Alice Braga, Juan Diego Botto, Joaquin Cosio, Storm Reid, and Taika Waititi.

The Suicide Squad is available on all home media formats, while Peacemaker will premiere on HBO Max on January 13, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news on John Cena’s Peacemaker series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
