However, in a subsequent post, the director did take the time to mention that The New Frontier served as a big inspiration for the upcoming reboot, specifically citing its “magical alternate history element” as a key influence in crafting the new DC Universe.
How The New Frontier Inspires The DC Universe
James Gunn’s comments abut Justice League: The New Frontier actually serve to confirm some information about the DC Universe that, until now, was only speculation. Set photos from Superman revealed that his version of Metropolis was taking heavy influence from Christopher Reeves’ classic take on the character. While many assumed this was a stylistic choice by Gunn, it now points to the idea that the entire reboot will have a different aesthetic from modern day America due to the influence of superheroes in their society.
