James Gunn debunked a rumor on details regarding the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 soundtrack.
Perhaps one of the most famous elements of James Gunn’s two Guardians of the Galaxy movies is the retro soundtracks in both. One signature aspect of Peter Quill/Star-Lord(Chris Pratt) is his beloved Sony Walkman that includes two cassette tapes: Awesome Mixes Volumes 1 and 2. These songs served as the primary soundtrack to not just the films, but the actual adventures the team embark on.
At the end of Vol. 2, Star-Lord receives a Zune from Kraglin (Sean Gunn), which replaced his Walkman after his father Ego (Kurt Russell) destroyed it. Given that Star-Lord and the surviving members of the team are on Earth during the climactic battle of Avengers: Endgame, some have speculated that the soundtrack for the third film will include modern songs.
James Gunn went on to his official Twitter to debunk the rumor, expressing that the songs from the new film are all from Peter Quill’s Zune.
One should expect the soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to be similar to the previous two. Songs that both Peter Quill and his mother loved listening to together are likely to be integral to the story, and who knows how that will play out in the conclusion to James Gunn’s trilogy?
Written and directed by James Gunn, the film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, Will Poulter and Chukwudi Iwuji.
The film is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming James Gunn film, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
