The Suicide Squad director James Gunn opened about how Kevin Feige reacted when the Marvel head was told about the move over to DC.

Back in 2018, fans were shocked when director James Gunn was fired by Disney after a series of deleted tweets resurfaced online featuring some controversial jokes. Gunn left Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 and was quickly snapped up by DC to work on The Suicide Squad. And although the story had a happy ending, with the director agreeing to go back to Disney for his third Marvel Studios movie, The Suicide Squad was his priority going forward. Most recently, Gunn revealed to fans how Kevin Feige reacted to the news about his move over to the DCEU.

The director recently posted a set of photos from the first read-through of the DC script from just over a year ago when one fan asked how Marvel reacted to the news he was moving over to the other studio. And although there’s the constant debate between fans about which company is better, James Gunn insisted that Kevin Feige was extremely supportive of the move, even revealing that the producer came to watch him work on The Suicide Squad. According to Mark Ruffalo, Feige nearly left Marvel Studios over the lack of diversity on-screen, so it isn’t surprising that he’d see the positive out of the difficult situation at the time. Take a look at Gunn revealing Kevin Feige’s reaction below.

“I told Kevin Feige before I took the job and he was very cool and supportive as he always is. He just wanted me to make a good movie. He and Lou D’Esposito even came to visit the set and watched us shoot. There isn’t the enmity behind the scenes like there is in the fan community.”

However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the team in his upcoming movie.
