Is Brainiac on his way to the DC Universe? James Gunn teases that the iconic Superman villain may make his debut in the upcoming sequel Man of Tomorrow.
There have been a lot of characters fans want to see in the DC Universe now that James Gunn and Peter Safran are at the helm. This includes the silly, such as Animal Man and Plastic Man, and the long-awaited, like Martian Manhunter and Flash’s Rogues. However, given Gunn is personally in charge of the Superman Saga, there’s perhaps no character fans have expectations for more than Brainiac appearing in a future sequel.
Fans have been begging for Brainiac to appear in a Superman film since long before Y2K, yet it seems the character has always been just out of reach as every reboot of the Man of Steel fails to beget a sequel. Yet with Man of Tomorrow now on the way, fans have been hoping that James Gunn makes the villain a cornerstone of the upcoming film.
Is Brainiac In Man Of Tomorrow?
While there has been some speculation about Brainiac appearing in Man of Tomorrow, there’s been no official word on the character appearing…until now. James Gunn recently posted a picture of the sequel’s script to Instagram, the front of which had a diagram of the human brain. Given Superman’s enemies often focus on brawn, this has all-but-convinced fans that Brainiac will be the primary villain of the sequel.
Of course, it’s not entirely certain that Brainiac will be in Man of Tomorrow. It’s possible that this image is James Gunn teasing Despero or the Black Mercy as villains for the sequel. However, given how badly fans have been begging for Brainiac to appear in the DC Universe, all signs point to Superman finally facing off against the long-awaited rogue.
