James Gunn has plenty of storyboards for Man of Tomorrow! The director teases that production on the Superman sequel may be gearing up to start.
Fans are eagerly awaiting for production on Man of Tomorrow to start. While this won’t mean the sequel comes any sooner, it does mean that James Gunn will be forced to reveal details about the Superman follow-up as casting and location details find their way online. Sadly, with Nicholas Hoult confirming production won’t start until next year, fans may still have some time to wait.
…or do they? James Gunn recently took to social media to share a stack of storyboards he created for Man of Tomorrow. The caption suggests that they’ve already been sent out to the crew, suggesting that pre-production for the Superman sequel may already be in full swing. If so, it’s likely that news on the project slowly starts to trickle out.
Man Of Tomorrow’s Storyboards
James Gunn was careful not to reveal any information about the Superman sequel when posting the storyboards. However, if one is to assume the stack is in order, the picture does reveal one interesting detail about Man of Tomorrow. The top image shows a bald man with pin needle eyes staring straight.
While this could be Lex Luthor, the storyboards most likely give fans their first look at Brainiac. If all of the above is true, it means that Man of Tomorrow likely starts with a front-on shot of the villain. This could serve as a way for James Gunn to present the character’s backstory in a cold open, allowing him to flesh out the character without distracting from the film being a true sequel to Superman.
Man of Tomorrow flies into theaters July 9th, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe!
