James Gunn Teases ‘Peacemaker’ Character Who Will Appear In Future DC Movie

Potential spoilers ahead!

James Gunn Peacemaker John Cena DCEU

James Gunn recently discussed how the Peacemaker series will connect to the greater DCEU in the future.

The DC Extended Universe is still ongoing with projects not named The Batman, and while it might not be as intertwined as the MCU, we can still expect to see some connections in the future. James Gunn recently told TV’s Top 5 podcast that one specific link will see a character from Peacemaker appear in a future DC film:

“It is part of the DCU, I mean they can use these characters… I mean one of these characters, which people have kind of figured out, one of these characters is used in a future big DC movie that’s from here. So we are connected to all of this… who knows what role these characters are going to play in the future? I mean no one knew who the Guardians of the Galaxy were, and then all of a sudden they’re massive players in [Avengers:] Infinity War and [Avengers:] Endgame. So who knows what’s going to happen with Peacemaker in ten years, five years, or whatever.”

A past report claimed Jennifer Holland’s Emilia Harcourt from Peacemaker will appear in Black Adam. Based on James Gunn’s recent comment, that report seems to be accurate.

Here is the synopsis for James Gunn’s Peacemaker:

PEACEMAKER explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it!

Peacemaker was created by James Gunn, who wrote all the episodes and directed five of them. The first season of the HBO Max series will consist of eight episodes, with Brad Anderson, Jody Hill, and Rosemary Rodriguez also directing episodes. Clint Mansell and Kevin Kiner will compose the score.

Peacemaker is now streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes dropping every Thursday. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding James Gunn’s upcoming projects, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
