James Gunn says he wants to make another season of Peacemaker ahead of the series debut this week.
Peacemaker is the latest DC series to hit HBO Max and the first to connect to the films. The recent news of James Gunn developing another DC series might’ve led to some thinking that Peacemaker would be a limited series.
However, James Gunn recently told Screen Rant that he also hopes to continue the Peacemaker story with another season in the future:
“We have 87 seasons mapped out (laughs). Yeah, we’re gonna be doing this until John [Cena] and I are 150 years old. But yeah, no we all want to continue. We really want to continue. It was the greatest group of people. Obviously, I was already friends with John and Jenn [Holland], obviously, and Steve Agee. But, Danielle [Brooks] and Chuk [Iwuji] — [Chuk] is one of my best friends. Chuk is one of the primary characters now in Guardians 3, and he is murdering it on this movie. So, it was just, really, a great group of people and I can’t wait to work with them again.”
Here’s a synopsis for James Gunn’s Peacemaker:
PEACEMAKER explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it!
Peacemaker was created by James Gunn, who wrote all the episodes and directed five of them. The first season of the DC series will consist of eight episodes, with Brad Anderson, Jody Hill, and Rosemary Rodriguez also directing episodes. Clint Mansell and Kevin Kiner will compose the score.
Peacemaker premieres on HBO Max on January 13, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming DC projects on the way, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
