What does Batman NEED in the DC Universe? James Gunn reveals the one thing fans keep requesting when it comes to the Caped Crusader’s next incarnation.
Out of all of the major fandoms, the DC Universe may have the healthiest breadth of discourse when it comes to the franchise’s upcoming projects, though some of this may come down to James Gunn’s initial slate reveal showing off FAR too much. However, if there is one element that can be unequivocally stated as the most prominent area of discussion, it’s Batman.
Fans know almost nothing about what James Gunn has in store for Batman. No actor, no costume, not even a villain. The initial story details for the DC Universe’s incarnation of the character are even in question, with Gunn himself admitting that details of the project are in flux. Fans are, currently, flying completely blind.
Batman’s Most Requested Detail
Though as with most things when it comes to the DC Universe, James Gunn has taken to social media to take his hand. The director was recently asked about Batman’s cowl having white lenses, which the post assumed would be the most requested detail of his costume. However, Gunn actually corrected them to say the most requested element is that he have a blue and grey suit!

Of course, just because fans are vocal about Batman having a grey and blue suit in the DC Universe doesn’t mean it’ll happen. James Gunn infamously almost cut the iconic trunks from his recent Superman movie. So it’s clear that the director has no intention of sticking to costume elements if they would detract from the story being told.
