Superman flies high!

James Gunn has a certified hit on his hands! Superman has officially crossed the $600 million benchmark at the worldwide box office.

The box office for Superman has been interesting to watch. The film was almost destined to be profitable. The question was: how high would the Man of Steel be able to fly? Worldwide box office numbers have been down across the entire industry due to the rise of streaming, the strikes, and America’s presence on the international stage. This has sparked quite a bit of conflict on the internet as fans and critics pit James Gunn’s reboot against other takes on the blue boy scout.

Though it seems, even with Superman already being at the box office for a month, the film is continuing to grow its gross. James Gunn’s reboot for the character just crossed the $600 million benchmark alongside F1, with the films sitting at $604.5 million and $603.4 million respectively.

The Strength Of Superman’s Box Office

Notably, most of Superman‘s gross came from the domestic box office. The reboot raked in $347 million in America, while still making a decent respectable $257.5 million overseas. This is likely considered a major win by James Gunn and his team, especially given how heavily the marketing budget was skewed toward America.

Compared to other Superman films, James Gunn also isn’t doing poorly. The film has already well-surpassed both Man of Steel and Batman V. Superman at the domestic box office. However, given both of those films had a much larger international box office, it’s not likely that Superman will surpass either of them worldwide (at least, on its current pace).
