James Gunn isn’t done with his sneaky references to the DC Universe! A new Superman set photo teases Maxwell Lord’s new company.
While it’s been known that Maxwell Lord would be coming to the DC Universe soon, likely played by Sean Gunn, James Gunn has kept his cards close to his chest when it comes to details about the character. However, it seems an easter egg pertaining to the villain has been found on the set of Superman, seemingly confirming his role as a tech mogul.

Lord Technologies, now shortened to Lord Tech in the DC Universe, was a concept created by the Arrowverse to solidify what Maxwell Lord actually does for work. In the comics, Maxwell Lord Enterprises was never explicitly defined as a tech company. However, it seems James Gunn has shifted the company’s products from high-end engineering to consumer products like Samsung.
Maxwell Lord’s Role In The DC Universe
When looking at James Gunn’s plans for the DC Universe, there are a lot of places that Maxwell Lord can slip in. While it’s not likely Sean Gunn will play the character in Superman, the presence of the military hints that Lord Tech could team up with Amanda Waller in the future, potentially forming Checkmate.
In addition, James Gunn has confirmed a number of Justice League International heroes for the DC Universe, such as Guy Gardner’s role in Superman and Booster Gold getting his own show. Given Maxwell Lord was the main villain of those comics, it’s possible Sean Gunn could head the next team-up film!
