James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie is expanding its cast with a mix of familiar faces and new talent.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Mikaela Hoover will portray Cat Grant, a seasoned journalist at the Daily Planet. Joining her is newcomer Christopher McDonald, stepping into the world of Metropolis as Ron Troupe, a key reporter at the Daily Planet.

The expansion follows the casting of veteran actor Wendell Pierce as Perry White and Saturday Night Live alum Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard. Pierce, known for his commanding roles in The Wire and Suits, will take on the role of the Daily Planet’s editor-in-chief. Meanwhile, Bennett is expected to add a humorous twist to the newsroom as Lombard.

Superman is currently in production and more than halfway through shooting. This film marks the first in the new DC Universe overseen by DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
