Harley Quinn will be returning to the DCEU following her last appearance in The Suicide Squad, director James Gunn has revealed.

James Gunn, who has directed DC’s The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, as well as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films, has earned something of a reputation for his blunt Twitter responses. His latest reply to a fan’s question has confirmed, in no uncertain terms, that Harley Quinn is coming back to the DCEU.

Margot Robbie has played Harley Quinn throughout the character’s DCEU appearances so far and it looks likely she will be teaming up with James Gunn again on an upcoming project.

James Gunn Welcomes Harley Quinn Back

James Gunn took to Twitter to pay tribute to Harley Quinn’s creators on the anniversary of her first appearance in Batman: The Animated Series, before revealing the character will return in the DCEU.

When a fan asked whether Harley would be back in the DCEU, James Gunn simply responded “Yes.” An alternate version of the character is due to appear, played by Lady Gaga, in the upcoming Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux. However, it sounds like Margot Robbie’s version will also be making another appearance.

If James Gunn is aware of Harley Quinn’s upcoming return to the DCEU, it is likely she will be appearing in one of his upcoming DC productions. Gunn is currently working on Season 2 of the Suicide Squad spin-off series Peacemaker, as well as several as-yet-untitled DC projects.

Here is the synopsis for James Gunn’s Peacemaker:

PEACEMAKER explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of executive producer James Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it!

The DCEU series was created by James Gunn, who wrote all the episodes and directed five of them. The first season of the HBO Max series consisted of eight episodes, with Brad Anderson, Jody Hill, and Rosemary Rodriguez also directing episodes. Clint Mansell and Kevin Kiner composed the DC show’s score.

The HBO Max series stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.

Peacemaker season one is streaming on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the future of James Gunn and the DCEU, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
