James Gunn Hints At Weasel’s Return After ‘The Suicide Squad’

Weasel will return...

James Gunn The Suicide Squad Weasel

James Gunn has hinted at Weasel’s return following The Suicide Squad‘s mid-credits scene reveal.

James Gunn included a ton of bottom-tier comic book characters in The Suicide Squad, but Weasel might’ve been the wildest. Weasel was played by Sean Gunn and only appeared in a handful of scenes before his apparent death.

Of course, the mid-credits scene for The Suicide Squad revealed Weasel survived after drowning, with the character waddling away on the beach. James Gunn is developing several projects for DC at the moment, and he teased on Twitter that we haven’t seen the last of Weasel:

Weasel’s return could happen in a few different projects. Peacemaker season two feels like a strong possibility, but James Gunn’s tweet seems to be alluding to another DC project. Maybe Gunn is developing an animated series centered on Weasel? The good news is the Weasel mid-credits scene tease will be more than a gag and hopefully pay off just like the Peacemaker end-credits scene did.

Here is the synopsis for Weasel’s big-screen debut:

Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission, with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Sylvester Stallone, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Flula Borg, Mayling Ng, Tinashe Kajese, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Alice Braga, Juan Diego Botto, Joaquin Cosio, Storm Reid, and Taika Waititi.

The Suicide Squad is available on BluRay, 4K, DVD, and Digital, while Peacemaker is streaming on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of James Gunn’s DC projects, Weasel, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
