Sonic The Hedgehog star James Marsden has revealed that he’s signed on for multiple sequels.
The Sonic film from Paramount has been a massive success and James Marsden, the human lead in the film, has expressed interest in returning to his blue hedgehog friend. When Sonic The Hedgehog was first unveiled last summer, fans were shaken by the terrifying look the titular character sported. Realizing that perhaps the fans were right on this one, the folks behind Sonic took the film back to the drawing board and fixed the look of the character. Despite suffering a major delay, the film was praised for its humor, action sequences, and favorable acting from James Marsden and Jim Carrey.
In a recent interview with Variety, James Marsden touched upon the success of Sonic The Hedgehog and how he’s signed on for sequels should Paramount want to continue the exploits of Sonic.
“I believe, I don’t know if I’m supposed to say, as many as they want to make. Yeah, that’s my somewhat vague answer. It is such a good group of people and it was so much fun to see Jim [Carrey] enjoying himself again. I think this was his second-biggest opening weekend of all of his movies. I was kind of amazed at that statistic. He just had a big smile on his face and he was hugging everyone. It just felt like it was such a cool thing.”
To date, the James Marsden film has grossed over $275 million, which is not bad at all for a film that released during the early months of the year. Sonic has also been a critical success and has been touted as one of the best video-games adaptations audiences have ever seen. Clearly a smash-hit with families and video-game fans, it’s almost certain that a sequel starring James Marsden will be making its way into cinemas into the near future.
