Jamie Alexander returned to the MCU in Thor: Love and Thunder, reprising the role of Lady Sif and new behind-the-scenes footage reveals her role was almost larger than in the final film.
Sif was brought back into the Thor franchise having faced Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher in Love and Thunder. Her encounter with the God Butcher had left her wounded and close to death, meaning Sif was relegated to the sidelines for the rest of the movie.
The gag reel for Thor: Love and Thunder has now revealed that a wheelchair-bound Sif almost featured in one of the film’s key scenes, before later being cut.
More Of Sif In New Asgard
A shot revealed in Thor: Love and Thunder‘s Gag Reel shows Jamie Alexander as Lady Sif sitting in a wheelchair during the New Asgard town hall scene, in which the two Thors, Korg and Valkyrie plan their journey to Omnipotence City.
Sif was absent from this scene in the finished film and was likely removed as she was not involved with the mission to Omnipotence City, meaning it made more sense for the scene to focus purely on those characters who would be central to the film’s plot moving forward.
Sif’s encounter with Gorr had resulted in her losing an arm. This cut scene would have revealed she also ended up spending time in a wheelchair, preventing her from joining her fellow Asgardian heroes on their mission to defeat Gorr.
Many fans were left unsatisfied by how little Jamie Alexander’s Sif was in Thor: Love and Thunder. This moment from the gag reel confirms she was originally set to have a larger role, even if she would have been left out of most of the film’s action.
Towards the end of Thor: Love and Thunder, Sif is seen training young Asgardians to fight, so there is hope that she may return elsewhere in the MCU in future.
Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor sequel stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
