A new rumor indicates that the infamous Star Wars prequel character, Jar Jar Binks will return for Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

The rumor comes to us from Making Star which indicates that Jar Jar Binks is returning. The writer stresses that this is just an early report but that early CGI work for the character is being done. In addition, there will reportedly be a scene where Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jar Jar Binks talk about the past. The site did not say just how big of a role that Jar Jar Binks will play in Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series nor if Ahmed Best will return to the role.

Jar Jar Binks is something of an infamous character in the Star Wars universe. The character was first introduced in Star Wars: Episode I-The Phantom Menace where he first met Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi.  The character was not well received by fans and was cited as one of many reasons the film did not work and was the subject of mock and ridicule. He appeared again in Star Wars: Episode II-Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III-Revenge of the Sith in much smaller roles. Jar Jar Binks would go on to be a reoccurring character in the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars where his appearances were better received. Jar Jar Binks’ last canon appearance was in the Star Wars Aftermath novel series where he became a clown to entertain children in the post-Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi world. Perhaps Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series will give him a better send-off.
