Jared Leto Fans Disappointed He’s Not In James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’

Earlier today, James Gunn revealed the official cast list for The Suicide Squad. Although response from fans has been mostly positive, some fans of actor Jared Leto expressed disappointment over his absence.

Jared Leto played The Joker in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad in 2016. Jared Leto’s portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike – but that’s not to say that Jared Leto’s Joker didn’t have any fans. In fact, here are a few fans expressing their disappointment over his absence from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad:

Some have already speculated that James Gunn was not interested in having Jared Leto reprise his role as The Joker in The Suicide Squad given that in 2018, Gunn tweeted the following, which insinuated that the actor hits on underage girls:

In the meantime, while his Joker will not appear in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, Jared Leto will return to the comic book movie genre with his role in Sony’s upcoming Morbius film, which will hit theaters on July 31, 2020.

The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the supervillain team in his upcoming movie,

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021.
