Jared Leto Says He Hasn’t Given Up On Joker Role

Leto has two small Joker appearances to his name.

Jared Leto talked about playing the Joker again following his return in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

There is currently no shortage of Joker actors. Joaquin Phoenix recently delivered an Oscar-winning performance as Arthur Fleck in the 2019 Joker film, while Matt Reeves just introduced a proto version of the character with Barry Keoghan behind the laughter in The Batman. Phoenix might also be returning in a Joker sequel, and Keoghan appears to be just getting started, but where does that leave Jared Leto?

Jared Leto debuted as his version of Joker in the first Suicide Squad film. The actor later returned to the Joker role in an extra scene filmed for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. All signs point to there being no plans for Leto’s return as The Joker, but the actor expressed interest in returning to the role in a recent interview with Variety:

“Never say never. For me, they’re like living, breathing people. I know they’re not, of course, but I get attached. It’s a shame to never do it again.”

Here is the synopsis for Joker actor Jared Leto’s next comic book film, Morbius:

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.

Directed Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the film stars Jared Leto as the lead anti-hero, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster, while Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.

Morbius will hit theaters on April 1, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming Jared Leto film, Warner Bros.’ plans for Joker, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content!
