In the years since Suicid Squad was released in theaters, Jared Leto’s Joker has become a topic of debate among fans of the DC Universe. What about the David Ayer cut?

In addition to the behind-the-scenes photo of Jared Leto’s Joker, David Ayer has been vocal about his desire to release a director’s cut of Suicide Squad. The director has stated that the version of the film that was released in theaters was not his original vision and that he would like to share a cut of the movie that is more in line with his original vision for Task Force X.

James Gunn has been very supportive of David Ayer, and vice versa, so much so that the DC Studios co-head has expressed interest in seeing the original cut of Suicide Squad film get released. For now, though, Warner Bros. is moving forward with a version of the DC Universe that is more interconnected between various film, television, animation and video game projects.
