The first official trailer for Jared Leto’s Morbius features a surprise appearance by Spider-Man: Homecoming star Michael Keaton.

Jared Leto’s Morbius has a surprising appearance from Spider-Man star Michael Keaton, who shows up at the end of the film’s first trailer. Michael Keaton is seemingly reprising his Spider-Man: Homecoming role as the Vulture, but it isn’t clear how much he’ll appear throughout Morbius. The trailer gave fans their first look at Jared Leto’s Morbius, who becomes a vampire after experimenting on himself to find a cure for his rare blood disease.

At the end of the trailer for Jared Leto’s Morbius, Michael Keaton approaches the Living Vampire in an alley way and says, “Michael Morbius, got tired of doing the whole good guy thing huh? What’s up doc?” Michael Keaton’s Vulture looks to be dressed in the same outfit he was wearing in prison at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, so it’ll be interesting to see how and why he returns in Jared Leto’s Morbius. The other Spider-Man reference saw a piece of grafitti depicting the web-slinger with “murderer” spray painted over the top, potentially referencing the world thinking Spider-Man murdered Mysterio in Far From Home.

How do you think Michael Keaton’s Vulture will affect Morbius? How do you think Jared Leto’s Morbius affects the MCU? Do you want Spider-Man to appear in the film? Let us know in the comments!

The film will be based on the Marvel comic Morbius the Living Vampire featuring the popular anti-hero, who first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #101. In the comics, the famed scientist Dr. Michael Morbius attempted to cure himself of a rare blood disease and consequently developed a form of vampirism instead.

Directed Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius stars Jared Leto as the lead anti-hero, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster while Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.

Jared Leto’s Morbius will be released in theaters on July 31, 2020.
