Netflix announced on Wednesday that Jared Leto’s Morbius is now available to stream.
Morbius marked the second Spider-Man villain Sony tried to spin off into its own franchise. The film ultimately earned poor reviews from critics and only grossed $162 million worldwide. However, Morbius has become a cultural phenomenon on social media with “It’s Morbbin Time” memes. Even Jared Leto himself chimed in on the fun.
Are You Ready To Morb?
If you haven’t had the chance to see Morbius yet, you can check it out with the film now streaming on Netflix. The streaming service confirmed on Wednesday the title has been added to their expansive library with a simple tweet of the now iconic phrase. Morbius hitting Netflix is part of Sony’s deal with the streamer which began this year.
Despite the failure of Morbius, Sony isn’t stopping their plans for a Spider-Man cinematic universe, with films centered on Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web currently filming. A third Venom film is also in the works.
Here is the synopsis for Jared Leto’s Morbius:
One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius stars Jared Leto, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach produced the project with Lucas Foster, with Palak Patel overseeing it for Sony.
