“Go, Go Power…”

Sorry. Wrong series. But Jason David Frank, one of the original Power Rangers, is at the subject of news that broke by Valiant Entertainment today. We have been given our first look at the former Green Ranger as the character Bloodshot in Valiant’s upcoming web series they are producing in partnership with Bat in the Sun.

Bat in the Sun has a YouTube channel with over a million subscribers, that provides content featuring several popular characters from comics being pitted against one another. Praised for the awesome fight choreography in their videos, Bat in the Sun seems like the perfect partner to help Valiant Entertainment bring this character to life.

The first look at Jason David Frank as the character debuted in a post on social media, promoting a special Variant edition of Bloodshot #14. Commenting on the post, the actor said:

“It’s official I am bloodshot! Valiant and Bat in the Sun top secret Project! These are part of New York Comic Con’s free autographed exclusive collectible item. See you all at Valiant’s Booth Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a new Bloodshot item each day at NYCC.”

Created in 1992 by Kevin VanHook and Yvel Guichet, Bloodshot is a character that bears some similarities to Wolverine. He’s a former soldier that has been gifted with powers of regeneration through an experiment on him that injected millions of nanites into his blood. Having no memory of who did this to him, he sets out on a path to learn more about himself and seek vengeance on those responsible for what he has become.

Valiant CEO & Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani had this to say about the project:

“We’ve set out to make the best and most ambitious series ever produced in the digital space – one that will live up to the high standards we’ve set in publishing. As Valiant gears up for an upcoming slate of film, television and video game releases, we felt the timing was right to begin to produce live-action digital content that would both give ours fans an experience truly worthy of the Valiant Universe, while also introducing new fans to the Valiant characters in the same way the animated television shows of the 1980s and 1990s did for comics in years past. Get ready to lose your mind – seeing Ninjak in action for the first time in nothing short of incredible.”

Fans can attend a free autographed signing of the exclusive issue of Bloodshoot on Friday, October 7th at New York Comic Con.
