Warner Bros. has released an official plot synopsis for Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which teases an “uneasy alliance.”
Filming on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has wrapped, and we got our first behind-the-scenes look at the Jason Momoa film during DC FanDome in October. Now, Warner Bros. has released an official synopsis for the upcoming DC film that hints at its plot:
“When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation.”
It appears Jason Momoa’s Aquaman will have to team up with a villain in the sequel to take down an ancient power of some kind. There’s a good chance that character will be Patrick Wilson’s Orm, but maybe Black Manta is also on the table. The synopsis also further indicates Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will deal with real-world environmental issues.
Here is the synopsis for Jason Momoa’s first Aquaman film:
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.
Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on December 16, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming DC sequel, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
