Is Jeph Loeb Teasing A Punisher Appearance On ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’?

Alongside the recent announcement that Jon Bernthal will only appear at New York Comic Con on the Saturday and Sunday due to his Netflix production schedule, leading many to believe we may be getting Netflix’s The Punisher series a lot sooner than we might have thought, it looks like Jeph Loeb has decided to partake in some Punisher-related teasing of his own.

At this week’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D red carpet premiere, Loeb introduced many guests who you might expect to be at the premiere such as Felipe Smith, who created the Robbie Reyes incarnation of Ghost Rider which features in the show. The intrigue starters, however, when Gerry Conway is introduced. Although Conway has written for a previous Ghost Rider comic series (which did not include Reyes), Loeb instead introduced him citing one of his other credits by calling him… the creator of The Punisher.

If that isn’t enough to set your imagination on fire, it was the sentence Loeb followed the introduction up with that really got everyone thinking about a potential Punisher appearance in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D:

You will understand why I brought all of these people here later in the season, and why it makes sense.

Usually, you’d be forgiven for passing this off as looking way too much into a passing quote. However, the choice of introduction and hint an explanation later on in the season does make a crossover seem like a possibility.

Season 4 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D airs Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
